Chuck Blazer 'went undercover to avoid life in prison'

FIFA whistleblower Chuck Blazer went undercover to avoid spending the rest of his life in prison, according to a report.

Former FIFA executive Chuck Blazer agreed to go undercover in order to avoid spending the remainder of his life in prison, according to reports made public on Monday.

Blazer provided the US government with information regarding corruption within the world governing body, after secretly pleading guilty to 10 charges in 2013.

According to The Guardian, the charges, which include bribery, money laundering and tax evasion, carried a maximum imprisonment term of 75 years.

The former CONCACAF general secretary began supplying authorities with details in December 2011, gaining immunity from prosecution in return.

Blazer admitted to accepting bribes for both the 1998 World Cup in France and the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
