Arsene Wenger 'offers to take Netherlands job with Ronald Koeman set for Barca'

Arsene Wenger reportedly puts himself forward as a candidate for the Netherlands job, with current manager Ronald Koeman expected to succeed Quique Setien at Barcelona.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly expressed his interest in becoming the new manager of the Netherlands national team amid speculation surrounding Ronald Koeman's proposed switch to Barcelona.

Following Quique Setien's dismissal in the wake of Barca's humiliating Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich, Koeman has been tipped to return to the club where he starred as a player and take control of the reins at Camp Nou.

However, that leaves the situation regarding the Netherlands post unclear, but after a two-year absence from management, Wenger is supposedly ready to step up to the plate at international level.

According to Fox Sports, Wenger - currently head of global football development at FIFA - has already put himself forward to become Koeman's successor for the Dutch national side.

The illustrious Frenchman stepped down from his Gunners post in 2018 after 22 years in the Arsenal dugout, but the report claims that Wenger is primed to return to a managerial role in the not-so-distant future.
