Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes - a long-term target for Manchester United - would reportedly prefer to move to Real Madrid.

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes would reportedly prefer to join Real Madrid over Manchester United.

Throughout the January window, Fernandes has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford, allegedly agreeing terms with the Premier League giants ahead of a big-money deal.

However, as a result of the two clubs being unable to agree on a fee, negotiations have reached an impasse, providing a window of opportunity for other teams to become involved in the race for the Portugal international's signature.

According to reports in Spain, Fernandes is hoping that Real attempt to sign him, either before the end of the month or during the summer.

Los Blancos are said to have been keen before the beginning of this campaign, only to end their interest when learning Sporting's asking price.

The Portuguese outfit are allegedly looking for a figure in the region of £68m.
