Manchester City are set to be active in the summer transfer window as they endeavour to retain the Premier League title and compete for silverware in other domestic and continental competitions in 2024-25.

Pep Guardiola, who may be preparing for his final season in charge of the Citizens, will want to strengthen his squad with a few key signings, but he may also allow some first-team stars to seek pastures new.

Recent reports have suggested that first-choice goalkeeper Ederson will consider ending his seven-year association with Man City if a 'good proposal' is offered to him this summer.

The 30-year-old has been Guardiola's undisputed number one shot-stopper even since he moved to the Etihad Stadium in 2017, and the six-time Premier League winner is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly suffered a blow in their pursuit of Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The 23-year-old has been a revelation for the Partenopei since making the switch from Georgian giants Dinamo Batumi during the summer transfer window of 2022.

Kvaratskhelia enjoyed a productive term in Serie A this season despite his side being unable to retain their Italian crown, finding the net on 11 occasions in 34 appearances.

The attacker's debut term in Naples put him on the radar of a host of top European clubs, when the full international bagged 14 goals and provided 14 assists across all competitions.

A Chelsea defender has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Bayern Munich.

Having appointed Enzo Maresca as the club's new head coach, the Blues recruitment team will now attempt to assemble a squad that is suited to the Italian's style of play.

While there are already a wide array of players at Stamford Bridge who fit the mould, Chelsea have moved to add Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo to their squad ahead of 2024-25.

That deal has naturally led to speculation that a defender could soon be leaving the West Londoners as co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital attempt to boost the club's position with the Premier League's financial rules.

Real Madrid have reportedly agreed a 'pact' with Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz ahead of a transfer in 2025.

Since making his debut for the BayArena club in January 2020, the 21-year-old has blossomed into one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in European football, attracting plenty of interest.

This season was a special one for everyone associated with Leverkusen, as the club won their first-ever Bundesliga title under the expert tutelage of former Real player Xabi Alonso.

As well as collectively, Wirtz enjoyed a stellar individual campaign across German domestic football and in the Europa League, netting 18 goals and providing 19 assists in 49 competitive appearances.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set a deadline for their first signing of the summer transfer window.

The Lilywhites are approaching a key period in their Ange Postecoglou era, with the Australian expressing his desire for a massive squad overhaul in North London following his maiden campaign in charge.

After failing to qualify for any form of European football during a wretched 2022-23 term, Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League this season, securing a spot in a revamped Europa League.

Despite the progression, Postecoglou's troops threatened to challenge for the title crown briefly in the early stages of the term, enjoying a 10-game unbeaten spell.

    © Reuters

Newcastle United have reportedly added West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen to a three-man shortlist of right-wingers ahead of the summer transfer window.

Bowen has established himself as an integral first-team player for the Hammers since joining the club in January 2020, and he memorably scored the winning goal in the 2022-23 Europa Conference League final.

The 27-year-old is currently preparing to represent England at Euro 2024 and heads into the tournament after scoring 20 goals and registering 10 assists in 44 games for West Ham last season.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle are plotting a move for a new right winger this summer and Bowen has been added to a list of targets that also includes Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams and Leeds United's Crysencio Summerville.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has reportedly made a decision over his long-term future at the Etihad Stadium.

The 23-year-old joined the Citizens from Borussia Dortmund in July 2022 for £51m and he has since scored a remarkable 90 goals in 98 appearances across all competitions.

Haaland netted 38 times in 45 outings last season, including 27 strikes in 31 Premier League games to win a second successive Golden Boot and fire Pep Guardiola's side to an unprecedented fourth consecutive top-flight title.

The Norway international has won a total of five trophies during his successful two-year spell at the Etihad and was a key figure in the Man City side that celebrated winning a historic treble, including the Champions League, in his debut campaign at the club.

Arsenal suffer transfer blow as teenager confirms desire to stay at current club

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reacts on April 9, 2024
    © Reuters

Arsenal have seemingly suffered a blow in their pursuit of a defensive transfer target this summer.

The Gunners could have another busy summer ahead of them, with incoming and outgoings expected as Mikel Arteta attempts to reshape his squad to challenge once again for the Premier League title next season.

Sporting director Edu recently stated that Arsenal are working through a detailed recruitment process, while co-chairman Josh Kroenke revealed last month that the club would "not stand still" in their attempts to knock Manchester City off their perch at the summit of English football.

Arsenal have subsequently been linked with a plethora of possible transfer targets and are believed to be eyeing up reinforcements in defence, midfield and attack before the 2024-25 campaign gets underway.

Barcelona 'offer £8.5m plus Raphinha' for 19-year-old Man Utd star

    © Reuters

Barcelona are reportedly prepared to offer €10m (£8.5m) plus Raphinha for one of Manchester United's rising stars in this summer's transfer window.

Raphinha has spent the last two seasons at Camp Nou since completing a £55m transfer from Leeds United, and he has made 87 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 20 goals and providing 25 assists.

The 27-year-old winger won the La Liga title and Supercopa de Espana in his debut campaign at Barca, before contributing with 10 goals and 13 assists across 25 starts and 12 substitute outings in Barca's trophyless 2023-24 season.

Raphinha was restricted to only 17 starts in La Liga last season, largely due to the emergence of teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal and the addition of Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid, a player that Barca are keen to sign on a permanent deal.

Liverpool defender 'in talks' over permanent exit after explosive interview

    © Reuters

Liverpool have reportedly begun discussions to sell one of their out-of-favour defenders who blasted the club's transfer stance in a recent interview.

Dutchman Sepp van den Berg was poached from the PEC Zwolle academy in the summer of 2019 for just £1.6m, joining Jurgen Klopp's ranks as a highly-rated 17-year-old.

However, Van den Berg's move to Anfield has not worked out as intended, as the 22-year-old played just four times for the senior team during the Klopp era, each of which came in the 2019-20 season.

Since his most recent competitive Liverpool appearance in a February 2020 FA Cup win over Shrewsbury Town, the closest that the Dutchman has come to another first-team outing is making the bench in each of the first four Premier League games of the 2022-23 season.

Arsenal 'to scout' possible Zinchenko replacement at Euro 2024

Arsenal reportedly plan to deploy scouts to watch a highly-rated left-back in action at Euro 2024.

After shining during Stuttgart's surprise push for Champions League qualification in the 2023-24 Bundesliga campaign, Maximilian Mittelstadt earned a call-up to the Germany squad for Euro 2024.

The 27-year-old functioned as both a left-back and left wing-back during the domestic season, registering two goals and five assists in 35 matches as Stuttgart pipped Bayern Munich to second place in the table.

A former Hertha Berlin youth product - whom Stuttgart signed for just £422,800 last year - Mittelstadt made his senior Germany debut in March and has started in each of his first four appearances for his country.

Transfer rumours: Newcastle close on Trafford, Spurs want Stuttgart man, Forest chase Miguel

    © Reuters

Newcastle United have reportedly made progress in their efforts to secure the signing of Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

While first-choice stropper Nick Pope has recently returned from a long-term shoulder injury, the Magpies are seemingly determined to acquire another player for between the sticks.

In recent days, it has emerged that Eddie Howe is eager to win the hotly-contested race for England Under-21 international James Trafford, who lost his place in the Clarets squad in March.

Although Newcastle are yet to agree a fee with Burnley, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says that personal terms have been agreed with the player.

Man United 'make £17m striker bid' amid Zirkzee uncertainty

    Bologna's Joshua Zirkzee on May 11, 2024
    © Reuters

Manchester United have reportedly made an approach for an alternative attacking option to Joshua Zirkzee.

The Red Devils are currently in the process of determining whether they will retain the services of head coach Erik ten Hag, whose position is currently being reviewed.

Nevertheless, the club's footballing operations team are aware that they can ill-afford to start their transfer work later than their rivals as they bid to strengthen in several areas before 2024-25.

United are also in a position where they will have to contemplate some shrewd moves in the market to remain on the right side of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Arsenal transfer rumours: Who could join this summer? Rating every possible signing

RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko on April 13, 2024
    © Reuters

After another agonising Premier League campaign of close yet no cigar - watching Manchester City lift the title while they stare at their silver medals - Arsenal will dip their toe into the market once more this summer in an attempt to decrease the gap even further.

No marquee signings akin to £105m Declan Rice are expected, but reinforcements are apparently being targeted in the attacking slots - both up front and out wide - a new defensive midfielder, a new left-back and possibly a new goalkeeper too.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at every player to have been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer and rates their chances of joining Mikel Arteta's team.

Xavi 'eyeing Premier League job' after Barcelona sack

FC Barcelona coach Xavi looks on on May 16, 2024
    © Reuters

Former Barcelona boss Xavi reportedly has his sights set on a move to the Premier League.

Since November 2021, the former midfielder has been tasked with bringing the Catalan giants through a sustained period of financial turbulence and keep them as La Liga challengers.

Xavi has achieved that goal to a certain extent, lifting last year's league title before having to settle for the runners-up spot this time around.

However, despite having initially performed a U-turn to extend his stay at Camp Nou, comments over the club's expected progress led to president Joan Laporta ending his time in the dugout.

Everton 'pushing to sign' £30m-rated Chelsea player

Chelsea's Armando Broja celebrates scoring their second goal with teammates on October 2, 2023
    © Reuters

Everton are reportedly ready to be proactive in the race to sign a Chelsea player during the summer transfer window.

The Toffees' off-the-field activity generated more attention than their on-the-pitch performances over the most recent campaign, Sean Dyche's side defying two separate points deductions to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Furthermore, the race for ownership has taken multiple twists and turns, with a number of parties now bidding to takeover after 777 Partners failed to get a deal over the line.

As a result, incomings at this stage of the summer felt highly unlikely, particularly when Everton will need to sell players in order to remain on the right side of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Man United attacker 'rules out Fenerbahce move' due to Mourinho stance

New Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho reacts during the presentation on June 2, 2024
    © Reuters

Fenerbahce have reportedly set their sights on signing Mason Greenwood, but the Manchester United striker has concerns about the prospect of playing under Jose Mourinho.

The 22-year-old recently completed a loan spell at Getafe in La Liga, and now the Red Devils must make a new decision regarding his future at Old Trafford.

Since his arrest in January 2022 on charges of attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault, Greenwood has not featured for United.

However, all charges against him were dropped last February and United had initially contemplated reintegrating him into Erik ten Hag's squad, but opted against it due to fears of backlash over his return.
