Head coach Mauricio Pochettino suggests that he has little interest in the recent developments at Manchester United, instead wanting to focus on his Chelsea squad.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he has little interest in commenting about any developments at upcoming opponents Manchester United.

Each of the Blues and the Red Devils have endured somewhat of a fall from grace in recent years, with neither club regarded as contenders for the Premier League title.

Instead, they head into Wednesday's encounter at Old Trafford with seventh-placed United sitting five points clear of Chelsea, who are 10th in the table.

Despite United sitting higher in the standings, there is more discontent at the Theatre of Dreams, reports indicating that many United players have started to lose faith in Erik ten Hag.

Furthermore, United are also on the brink of elimination from the Champions League and lost their most recent Premier League fixture against Newcastle United.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Pochettino was quizzed on the current situation at Old Trafford, as well as if he had any regrets about being edged out for the United job by Ten Hag in the spring of 2022.

However, the Argentine opted to only comment on United in short supply, instead preferring to focus on the progression of his Chelsea squad.

Speaking to reporters, Pochettino said: "It is always good to play in Old Trafford because it is an amazing place, amazing stadium, fans, team, club. it is a great opportunity to play there, but I think we are all in similar level and situations.

"I don't say that it is a good moment to go there. The most important thing is to be ready to compete because we are going to face a team that are going to be tough, for sure they want to win, and we are a team that wants to keep our momentum from Brighton, and to be higher up the table.

"It's important to be in a different position. It is a game where we need to go there and try to win."

He added: "I am focused on my club. We need to do much better. That is a process that only I can explain, but never compare with another club.

"I think, little by little, that we are building something that is going to be amazing for the future of the club. It is about a period of time and earning the thing that we want, but never to compare with another club because that is not fair."

Pochettino also revealed to the media that Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku would remain absent for the showdown in the North West.
