Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is still Manchester United's first-choice managerial target, according to a report.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly still Manchester United's first-choice managerial target.

Ten Hag is believed to have recently met with the Red Devils for an interview, with the Dutchman firmly in the picture to become the club's new head coach ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

Paris Saint-Germain's Mauricio Pochettino, Sevilla's Julen Lopetegui and Spain's Luis Enrique all continue to be linked with the role at Old Trafford, but according to The Times, Ten Hag is the club's preferred choice.

The report claims that the Man United board want their new manager to change the playing style at the club, and Ten Hag's work in Amsterdam has put him at the top of the list for the role.

The 52-year-old has won two league titles and two KNVB Cups since arriving at Ajax in 2017, while his side are currently two points clear of second-placed PSV Eindhoven at the top of the Eredivisie table.

Ten Hag is allegedly surprised that he has not yet been offered a contract by Man United, with the Premier League club looking to speak to other targets before making a final decision.

Ralf Rangnick will continue to lead the team on an interim basis for the rest of the season, with the 20-time English champions bidding to secure a top-four spot in the Premier League table.
