Jurgen Klopp reportedly wants to bring in RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, but Liverpool will first wait to offload Daniel Sturridge or Divock Origi.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly still keen to snap up Timo Werner from RB Leipzig as part of an attacking shake-up.

The Reds have already offloaded Dominic Solanke to Bournemouth for £17m this month and they are looking to find a new club for Divock Origi.

Daniel Sturridge is another player who could well be deemed surplus to requirements as the January transfer window edges towards its third week, and the London Evening Standard suggests that Werner is being eyed up as a replacement.

Liverpool are believed to have moved in front of a number of English clubs to lead the race for the Germany international, but competition could be provided by Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich for his signature.

However, the report indicates that the departure of fringe players Origi and Sturridge is more likely to happen in the summer, so Klopp may have to remain patient in his pursuit of Werner.

The 22-year-old has stalled on signing a new contract with Leipzig, forcing the Red Bull-backed club to cash in this year.
