Departing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been offered wages in excess of £24m a year to manage in the Far East, according to a report.

Departing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly been given the chance to become the highest-paid manager in the world by a Chinese Super League club.

The 68-year-old is understood to have a number of offers on the table following last week's news that he is to leave the Emirates Stadium next month.

Wenger has spent 22 years at Arsenal, where he is currently earning wages of £8m a year - half the amount Pep Guardiola receives from Manchester City.

According to The Mirror, the Frenchman will usurp Guardiola and China national team boss Marcelo Lippi with the most lucrative managerial contract anywhere in the game, worth in excess of £24m a year.

The same report indicates that Wenger would still prefer to take charge of a team in Spain or his native France, however, particularly a side that he can help to grow.
