Josh O'Connor has been named as best TV actor at the 2021 Golden Globes for his role as Prince Charles in The Crown.

The 30-year-old triumphed in a category that included Al Pacino, Jason Bateman, Bob Odenkirk and Matthew Rhys as the other nominees.

The God's Own Country star used his acceptance speech to highlight the plight of actors put out of work by the coronavirus pandemic as well as the wider mental health issues caused by quarantining.

"I'm very lucky to be able to work in this period," he said, "and there are so many people who are unable to work, who are alone and isolated, and I hope we can all collectively put mental health at the forefront our minds."

Meanwhile, O'Connor's co-star Emma Corrin picked up the best actress award for playing Princess Diana, in the process beating Olivia Colman, who won last year for her portrayal of The Queen.

The Crown also took the award for best TV drama, beating The Mandalorian, Ozark, Ratched and Lovecraft Country.
