Dan Wootton leaves GB News and confirms the launch of his own online platform.

Dan Wootton has confirmed his exit from GB News and announced the launch of his own online platform.

The journalist was part of the channel's launch lineup and hosted its flagship primetime show until last September, when he was suspended pending an investigation into an on-air interview with Laurence Fox for which the latter was accused of misogyny.

Announcing his GB News departure, Wootton wrote on social media: "I have left GB News to launch my own independent platform Dan Wootton Outspoken which will feature a brand new daily news and opinion show from later this year that will NOT be regulated by the Ofcommunist censors. Free speech in Britain is in peril!"

An email sent to GB News staff read: "Dan Wootton joined GB News before its launch and was a part of the first on-air line up. Dan is no longer employed by GB News and we thank him for his contribution and wish him well with his future endeavours."

Patrick Christys has become the new permanent host of primetime weekdays since Wootton's departure.
